For candidates wondering how much time they have, whether they can re-record, and if they can pause.
The exact timings in your interview are set by the employer, so they vary from role to role — but the screen always tells you what you have before you start each answer. Here's how thinking time, time limits, retakes, and pausing work.
Thinking time before you record
For video questions, you'll usually get thinking time before recording begins. The question appears first, a countdown shows how long you have to prepare, and then recording starts automatically. Use this time to gather your thoughts. If you're ready early, you can often start recording right away.

Time limits while you answer
Each video answer has a time limit, shown on screen as you record. You don't have to use the full time — if you've finished your thought, you can stop early and move on. Assessments like personality and work scenarios aren't timed the same way; answer those at a comfortable pace.
Retakes
Whether you can re-record an answer is set by the employer:
If retakes are available, you'll see a Re-record button after your answer.
The number of retakes is limited, and the screen tells you how many you have left.
Once retakes are used up, your latest answer is the one that's saved.
If you don't see a Re-record option, that question is single-take — so take a breath during your thinking time and answer when you're ready.
Pausing and finishing later
You can stop at almost any point with Finish later, and your completed answers are saved. To come back, reopen the same interview link and use the same email address — you'll pick up where you left off. This also lets you switch to a different device or a quieter space mid-way.
We recommend completing your interview in one sitting when you can, but the option to pause is always available so a break or an interruption doesn't cost you your progress.
