What happens when my trial expires?

On day 7, Truffle prompts you to pick a plan. Upgrade and everything carries over. Don't, and the account goes read-only. Still viewable, but no new positions. Data is preserved for 90 days so you can come back.

Updated today

For employers nearing the end of their 7-day free trial.

On day 7 of your trial, Truffle prompts you to pick a plan from Settings → Billing & Subscriptions. If you subscribe, full access continues. Your trial positions, candidates, and configuration carry straight into the paid plan with no re-setup. If you don't, the account moves to read-only: you can still sign in and look at everything, but you can't publish new positions, invite new candidates, or accept new completions. Data is preserved for 90 days, so if you come back later and subscribe, everything restores.

Before day 7

Starting at day 5 you'll see in-app prompts showing the trial countdown. Use the remaining days to (1) take the demo interview to see the candidate side, (2) publish at least one real position, and (3) invite a few candidates so you can evaluate the review experience. The trial cap is 5 completed interviews, 1 live position, 1 teammate. Enough to form a judgment without needing a paid plan.

Day 7: subscribe or don't

The trial ends at the 7-day mark. You'll be shown the Pick a plan screen.

  • If you subscribe to Essentials or Custom, full access continues. The position you built during the trial stays live, the candidates you invited still work their way through, and your assessments and branding persist. See What plans does Truffle offer and how does billing work?.

  • If you don't subscribe, the account moves to read-only (described below).

Read-only state after the trial

  • You can sign in. Your dashboard, any position you created, any candidate who completed, every AI-generated summary, and every note stays visible.

  • You can't publish new positions. The Create position button is disabled.

  • Your trial invite links stop working. Candidates who click them see a "This interview is no longer accepting candidates" message. Any candidate who had already completed stays on your dashboard.

  • Teammates can still sign in and view the same read-only state.

Coming back

Your data is preserved for 90 days from the end of your trial. Within that window, subscribing to Essentials or Custom restores full access. You pick up exactly where you left off with no re-setup. After 90 days, the account data is deleted.

  1. Sign in to Truffle.

  2. Go to Settings → Billing & Subscriptions.

  3. Pick Essentials (monthly or annual) or request Custom pricing.

  4. Enter payment details.

  5. Confirm. Access restores immediately.

If the upgrade flow doesn't work

A few employers hit issues trying to upgrade at the end of their trial. The most common are payment method rejected, card verification failing, or the Upgrade button not opening the payment page.

  • Try a different browser. A browser extension (ad-blocker, privacy blocker) can interfere with the Stripe checkout. Incognito mode in Chrome/Safari bypasses most extensions.

  • Try a different card. Your bank may flag an international SaaS charge. A different card or a virtual card (Privacy.com, Revolut, etc.) often works.

  • If the page doesn't open at all, email [email protected] with the position and the account email. Support can manually process the upgrade and confirm via email.
