How do I change the deadline on an interview?

Invite links expire after 7 days by default. Extend a specific candidate by resending the invite from their profile. The new link resets the clock. The position itself doesn't have a deadline; only individual invites do.

Updated today

For employers who need to give a candidate more time to finish their interview.

Every Truffle invite comes with a 7-day deadline that starts when you send it. After that, the link still opens but shows an expired message and the candidate can't continue. To extend, resend the invite from the candidate's profile. Truffle issues a fresh link tied to the same email address, and the new 7-day clock starts over. Nothing the candidate has already recorded is lost.

How to extend a specific candidate

To extend one candidate's deadline, resend the invite from their candidate profile.

  1. Open your position and find the candidate on the Incomplete tab (or All Candidates if you're not sure where they are).

  2. Click the candidate to open their profile.

  3. Click Send reminder (or Re-invite if the original invite has expired).

  4. The candidate gets a new email immediately. The new link is active for another 7 days from now.

If the candidate already started but didn't finish, resending the link picks up exactly where they left off. They don't start over. If they haven't opened it yet, it replaces the old link with a fresh one.

Extend multiple candidates at once

If several candidates need more time (common when a job posting goes out and a batch of candidates all miss the 7-day window), you can extend in bulk:

  1. Go to the position's candidate list.

  2. Select the candidates you want to extend (checkbox column or filter by status).

  3. Open the More dropdown at the top of the table and click Resend invite.

  4. All selected candidates get a new email with a fresh link.

The position itself has no deadline

Truffle positions stay open as long as you keep them open. There's no expiration date on the position itself. Only on individual invites. To stop the position from accepting new candidates, close it from the position's Settings. See How do I close or archive a position?.

Why 7 days

The default exists because most candidates who are going to complete will do so within 3 days, and a 7-day window keeps your candidate dashboard current without feeling like a pressure tactic. Automatic 24h and 72h reminders go out during this window. See What emails does Truffle send to candidates?. So candidates typically don't need manual nudging.

The 7-day default can't be changed position-wide; changes are per-invite through the resend flow above.
