How do I change multiple candidates at once?

Select candidates with the checkboxes on the dashboard. A multi-select action bar appears at the bottom. Bulk advance, hold, reject, or mark as hired.

Updated today

For employers moving groups of candidates through stages after filtering.

To change multiple candidates at once, open the candidate list for a position, tick the checkbox next to each candidate you want to update, and use the action bar that appears at the bottom of the screen to Advance, Hold, Reject, or mark as Hired in bulk. Use this with filters to move, say, every candidate above 70% match to the Advance stage in one click.

How to bulk-change status

Bulk status change always starts from the candidate list for a single position.

  1. In the sidebar, open Positions and click the position you want to work on.

  2. (Optional) Filter first. Narrow the list using match-score thresholds, status, or date applied. Bulk changes apply only to what you select, so filtering lets you target candidates precisely.

  3. Click the checkbox next to each candidate you want to change. To select everyone visible, use the checkbox in the column header.

  4. The multi-select action bar appears at the bottom of the screen with the count of selected candidates.

  5. Click Advance, Hold, Reject, or Hired to apply that status to every selected candidate.

The status change takes effect immediately. Each candidate moves to the corresponding tab on the dashboard.

What each status means

The four bulk actions match the status options you have per-candidate in Magic Review.

  • Advance. The candidate moves forward in your process. You still have to decide what "forward" means outside Truffle (scheduling a call, sending a take-home, etc.).

  • Hold. Decide later. Candidates stay on the position, surface in the On Hold tab, and don't block your For Review queue.

  • Reject. A clear no. Candidates move to the Rejected tab. The candidate is not automatically notified. Rejection emails aren't sent from Truffle.

  • Hired. End-of-pipeline. Marks the candidate as successful for reporting purposes.

You can change a status later. Statuses are not destructive.

Pairing bulk changes with filters

The highest-leverage pattern is filter first, then bulk. For example:

  • Filter by match score ≥ 80% → select all → Advance.

  • Filter by match score < 50% → select all → Reject.

  • Filter by date applied: last 7 days and For Review → select all → Hold to clear your queue for a focused first-pass later.

When to use Magic Review instead

Bulk changes are for situations where the filter alone is enough to decide. When you need to look at each candidate for a few seconds before deciding, use Magic Review with keyboard shortcuts (A/H/R). Faster than the multi-select flow for anything under ~30 candidates.
