For employers adding Environment Fit to a position.
Environment Fit is an optional binary assessment where candidates pick between two work-style preferences per question. Turn it on in Step 2 of interview creation; on Step 3, pick which side of each A/B question represents what the role actually looks like. To add it to a position: open Positions → the position you want to edit → Step 2: Build interview → toggle on Assessments and check Environment Fit → Next: Configure interview.
How to enable Environment Fit on a position
To enable Environment Fit for a position, open the position in the Create Interview wizard and check the Environment Fit box on the Build step.
In the sidebar, open Positions and click + Create position, or open an existing position you want to edit.
On Step 2: Build interview, toggle on the Assessments card.
Check the Environment Fit box.
Click Next: Configure interview.
How to pick your preferred side of each question
Configuring Environment Fit means reviewing each A/B question Truffle's AI pre-selected for the role and picking the side that reflects the job's reality. Fast vs. steady pace, structured vs. flexible workflow, and so on.
Truffle's AI pre-selects a starting set of questions based on your job details, and picks a default side for each. Your job is to review and adjust.
On Step 3: Configure interview, open the Environment Fit section.
Each question renders as two side-by-side cards. Option A on the left and Option B on the right, with a category label (for example, Work Style or Communication) above them.
Click the side that matches the role. The selected card gets a highlighted border; the other side is muted. The AI suggested badge stays on the original so you can see what was changed.
Repeat for each question.
You can swap a question for a different one from the library, add new ones, or remove existing ones. The library is grouped by category (Work Style, Communication, Pace, and more) to make browsing faster. Swapped or added questions don't carry an AI suggestion, so you'll need to pick the side yourself. A Needs selection badge flags any question that's still waiting on your input.
What candidates experience
Candidates see a short intro, then answer one question at a time by picking "Which sounds more like you?" from two options. There's no ranking and no right answer. The format is deliberately fast and low-pressure.
Candidates don't see which side you picked, and their choice is never shown as "correct" or "incorrect." Environment Fit only measures whether their stated preference matches the side you configured for the role.
Where to see results
Results live in two places on the candidate profile: a compact Environment Fit card on the Overview tab (and Magic Review), and a full question-by-question breakdown on the Assessments tab.
Environment Fit is count-based, not percentage-based. The summary reads like "Aligned on 5 of 6 questions". Each gap includes a directional interview prompt so you have something concrete to ask about in a follow-up call. Environment Fit is an independent signal and is never combined with the video match score. Use it to inform your conversations, not replace them.
