If you already have a pile of resumes, from a job board, referrals, or an old pipeline, you can upload them straight to a position. Truffle reads and scores each one against the position's resume criteria, the same way it scores candidates who apply through your job page.
Because these candidates haven't seen Truffle's screening notice, there's a short attestation step before you upload. This article covers how uploading works and what stays your responsibility.
Before you start
The position needs resume scoring turned on, so there are criteria to score against.
Resumes must be PDF files, up to 5 MB each and 50 files per upload.
Screening a resume costs 1 credit, the same as any other resume.
Upload a batch
Open the position's candidate list and select Upload resumes. You can also start from the Invite & share drawer.
Read and confirm the attestation (see the next section).
Add your PDF files and start the upload. A progress bar tracks the batch, and duplicate files in the same batch are skipped.
Each resume becomes a candidate in the resume queue, scored against your criteria with the reasoning shown on the candidate's Resume tab.
The attestation, and why it matters
Candidates who apply through your job page see Truffle's AI notice and accept it themselves. Uploaded candidates never saw that notice, so the legal basis for processing their resumes is your attestation as the employer. When you confirm it, you're confirming that:
You obtained these resumes lawfully: directly from candidates, or from sources you're allowed to use.
You've given candidates any notices required where you hire. Some places, like New York City, require notice before AI-assisted tools are used in hiring.
Truffle processes the resumes on your behalf under the Terms of Service and Data Processing Addendum.
Truffle records your attestation with each upload batch. If the attestation wording is ever updated, you'll be asked to confirm it again before your next upload.
If a candidate asks you to remove their information, delete them in Truffle or contact support.
What Truffle does with each resume
Reads and parses the resume into text.
Scores how well the content matches the criteria you set for the position. Scoring is designed to exclude photos, names, ages, and gender from its inputs.
Shows you the score and a summary alongside the full resume.
What Truffle does not do
Nothing is rejected or advanced automatically. Every hiring decision is yours.
Uploaded candidates are not contacted. Nothing is sent unless you invite someone to interview.
Good to know
Contact details are read from the resume itself, so they can be wrong or missing. You can edit them on the candidate's profile.
If a resume's parsed email matches an existing candidate, the upload keeps a placeholder address so the two aren't merged by accident.
Uploaded candidates carry an upload badge, and the candidate's profile shows who uploaded the resume.
