For employers fine-tuning Truffle's AI evaluation for a specific position.

AI personalization is two short intake questions that teach Truffle's AI what matters for this role. Answer them during position setup, and the answers feed into every candidate's match score and candidate summary. You'll find them under Enhance your interview on Step 4: Review and activate, or inline on Step 3 depending on what components you have turned on.

The two questions

Truffle asks two questions specifically designed to narrow the AI's evaluation criteria.

  • What does success look like in the first 6–12 months?. Concrete outcomes and milestones. "Close 2 enterprise deals, onboard 3 new accounts, contribute to the Q3 product launch."

  • What traits help someone thrive or struggle on this team?. Cultural and interpersonal dimensions. "Works well in ambiguity, writes before talking, comfortable pushing back on leadership."

Both answers are 50–500 characters. Shorter is OK; more detail generally produces better match scores.

How your answers shape AI evaluation

Your two answers get injected into the prompt Truffle's AI uses to score candidates and write summaries. The effect:

  • Match score. Candidates are scored against your specific success criteria, not a generic "good employee" template. Truffle claims roughly 25% better matching when these fields are filled in.

  • Candidate summaries. The AI summary on each candidate's profile references your stated traits. If you said "comfortable pushing back on leadership" is important, the summary will note whether the candidate demonstrated that.

  • Key insights. The insights below the summary are picked from a library of ~32 competencies; your answers bias which ones get surfaced.

Editing after activation

You can edit the AI personalization answers after the position is live. Changes apply to new candidate evaluations only. Past match scores and summaries don't regenerate. If you want to rescore existing candidates after a significant change, contact support.

When to skip personalization

Personalization is optional. Truffle will score candidates without it, using defaults derived from your position description. Skip personalization if:

  • The role is genuinely generic (same-day hire for a high-volume position with broad criteria).

  • You're testing the product and will delete the position.

For roles you actually plan to fill, the 5 minutes of answering is worth it. Match scores get noticeably more relevant.
