How do I connect Truffle to other tools?

Connect Ashby, Pinpoint or Slack from Settings, use Zapier for thousands of other apps, or build on the REST API. All on paid plans.

Truffle connects to other tools in three ways. Ashby, Pinpoint and Slack connect natively from inside Truffle, with no middleware. For other tools, Zapier connects Truffle to thousands of apps without code. For custom work, use the REST API and webhooks. Everything lives in Settings → Integrations & API, and integrations are available on paid plans. Owners and Admins can connect them.

The Integrations page

Go to Settings → Integrations & API and open the Integrations tab. It has four groups:

  • Connected — the integrations your company has switched on, each with a health status (Connected, Degraded or Action needed) and the date of its last activity

  • Available — the native integrations you can connect from inside Truffle: Slack, Ashby and Pinpoint, plus Zapier, which opens its own setup page

  • Built in — what works without an integration: email applicant import from job boards such as Indeed, and Airtable or Google Sheets through a ready-made Zapier recipe

  • Coming soon — ATS connections we are building next, currently Greenhouse, Lever, Workable and Breezy HR

On a free trial the page shows an upgrade banner instead. Integrations need a paid plan.

Native ATS connections (Ashby and Pinpoint)

Ashby and Pinpoint connect directly, and recruiters then work entirely inside their ATS. Each takes a few minutes and has its own step-by-step article:

  • Ashby — create an API key in Ashby, paste it into Truffle, then paste the Truffle key back into Ashby. See How do I connect Truffle to Ashby?.

  • Pinpoint — Truffle creates a key for you to paste into the Truffle plugin in Pinpoint. Every Pinpoint candidate then gets two actions: Screen resume with Truffle and Send Truffle interview. See How do I connect Truffle to Pinpoint?.

In both cases, results such as the match score, the summary and a link to the full report come back to the candidate in your ATS. Scores never reject anyone: you decide who moves forward, in your ATS.

Zapier (everything else)

Zapier connects Truffle to thousands of apps, including Slack, Notion, HubSpot, Google Sheets and Airtable, and to any ATS without a native connection.

Two Truffle building blocks work out of the box:

  • Invite Candidate — push a candidate into Truffle from another tool, such as your ATS or a form. Truffle emails them the interview invitation.

  • Interview Completed — trigger any Zap when a candidate finishes. For example, add a row to a Google Sheet or post to Slack.

To set up Zapier:

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations & API and open the Integrations tab.

  2. On the Zapier card, click Set up.

  3. Click Create Zapier Key, type a name such as "Zapier Integration", and press Enter.

  4. Truffle copies the key to your clipboard and opens Zapier's Truffle page in a new tab. Paste the key when Zapier asks for Truffle (API Key).

Note: Truffle shows the key only once. Afterwards the Zapier card in Truffle shows the start of the key, with Manage Key and Disconnect. Disconnecting revokes the key at once, so every Zap that uses it stops until you create a new one.

REST API and webhooks (custom integrations)

If you need something Zapier does not cover and you are comfortable writing code, use the Truffle API. Keys live on the API keys tab next to Integrations, and the first time you open it you request API access, which Truffle approves. Webhooks, on the Webhooks tab, notify your systems when a screening completes or a resume is scored. See How do I use the Truffle API?.
