For candidates who can't record video in a Truffle interview.
If your video won't record, it's almost always a browser permission or an unsupported browser — not your interview. Use a supported browser, allow camera and microphone access when prompted, and check your computer's system permissions. The steps below walk through each.
Use a supported browser
Truffle records best in the latest version of one of these:
Google Chrome (latest version)
Safari (latest version)
Edge and Firefox may work but are less reliable for video recording, so switch to Chrome or Safari if you run into trouble. If your browser is out of date, update it and try again.
Allow camera and microphone access
When you start the interview, your browser should prompt you to allow access. If you accidentally selected Block, re-enable it:
Chrome
Click the lock icon next to the URL bar.
Set both Camera and Microphone to Allow.
Refresh the page.
Safari
Go to Safari → Settings for This Website.
Set Camera and Microphone to Allow.
Refresh the page.
Check your system permissions
Sometimes your computer's settings override the browser.
On Mac
Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera.
Make sure your browser (Chrome or Safari) is toggled on.
On Windows
Go to Settings → Privacy → Camera.
Ensure camera access is enabled for both the system and your browser.
Restart your browser or device
It sounds simple, but it often works. Restart your browser first; if that doesn't help, restart your computer and try again.
Try a different device
If you're still stuck, switch to another device — for example, from a phone to a laptop. The interview works on mobile, but desktop is the most stable.
