Truffle automatically sends emails to candidates at key moments in the interview process. You can turn these emails on or off for each position, and on paid plans, customize the email content for each type.
This article explains what each email does and how to configure them. For customizing email content, see Customize your candidate emails.
Types of candidate emails
Truffle can send three types of automated emails to candidates.
24-hour reminder
Sent 24 hours after a candidate starts their interview if they have not completed it. The email reminds the candidate that their progress is saved and encourages them to finish.
Subject line: Finish your interview for [Position title]
Key message: Your progress is saved. It only takes a few minutes to wrap up.
72-hour reminder
Sent 72 hours after a candidate starts their interview if they still have not completed it. This follow-up creates urgency by noting the interview may close soon.
Subject line: Your interview is still open
Key message: Your interview may close soon. Complete it now to make sure you're considered.
Completion confirmation email
Sent immediately after a candidate finishes their interview. The email confirms their submission and sets expectations for next steps.
Subject line: You've completed your interview for [Position title]!
Key message: Thanks for completing your interview. Our team will review your responses and follow up with you about next steps.
How to configure candidate emails
You can turn candidate emails on or off for each position.
Open the position you want to edit.
Click Settings in the left sidebar.
Scroll to the Candidate emails & reminders section.
Toggle each email type on or off using the switches.
Your changes save automatically.
Note: All three email types are enabled by default when you create a new position.
To customize the content of these emails, see Customize your candidate emails.
Sender identity
All candidate emails now show your company name as the "From" display name. Candidates see emails from your company, not from "The Truffle Team."
Best practices
Keep reminders enabled to improve completion rates. Candidates often start interviews but get interrupted. Reminders bring them back.
Use completion emails to set expectations. This reduces follow-up questions from candidates wondering about their status.
Disable emails only for specific situations. For example, you might turn off reminders for time-sensitive roles where the interview window is very short.
