Troubleshooting video access issues

Having trouble recording your Truffle video interview? No worries, here’s how to quickly resolve the most common video access issues.

Updated over 2 months ago

1. Use a supported browser

We recommend:

  • Google Chrome (latest version)

  • Safari (latest version)

Avoid using Firefox or Edge, as they may not support some video recording features.

✅ Pro tip: If your browser is outdated, update it and try again.

2. Grant camera and microphone access

When you start the interview, your browser should prompt you to allow access. If you accidentally clicked “Block,” here’s how to fix it:

Chrome:

  1. Click the lock icon next to the URL bar

  2. Set both “Camera” and “Microphone” to Allow

  3. Refresh the page

Safari:

  1. Go to Safari > Settings for This Website

  2. Set Camera and Microphone to Allow

  3. Refresh the page

3. Check system permissions

Sometimes your computer’s settings override your browser.

On Mac:

  • Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera

  • Make sure your browser (e.g. Chrome or Safari) is toggled on

On Windows:

  • Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera

  • Ensure camera access is enabled for both the system and your browser

4. Restart your browser or device

Yes, it sounds simple — but it often works. Restart your browser first. If that doesn’t help, restart your computer and try again.

5. Try a different device

If you're still stuck, switch to another device (e.g. from a phone to a laptop). The interview works on mobile, but desktop is best for stability.
