What counts as an interview in your Truffle plan

Only completed interviews count toward your monthly limit. Invites, partial responses, and test runs are free.

Updated over a month ago

An interview only counts toward your plan limit when a candidate completes every required question and submits their final response. Truffle then generates an AI summary and marks the interview as complete.

Everything else is free: unopened invites and abandoned sessions don't count toward your limit.

Note: Your plan shows a "Candidates" count in the Current Usage section. Each completed interview adds one to this count.

What counts as a completed interview

A completed interview must meet all of these criteria:

  • Candidate answers every required question.

  • All video or audio responses upload successfully.

  • Candidate clicks Submit on the final question.

  • Truffle displays the completion confirmation screen.

  • AI summary generates automatically.

Once these steps finish, the interview appears in your candidate list and adds 1 to your usage count under Billing & Subscriptions β†’ Current Usage.

What doesn't count toward your limit

These actions are free and don't affect your interview quota:

  • Unopened invite links.

  • Candidates who start but exit before finishing.

  • Re-recording answers within the same interview session.

  • Internal test interviews in preview mode.

Important: Partially completed interviews don't count until the candidate submits their final answer. If a candidate completes 4 out of 5 questions and never returns, that interview stays free.

Check your interview usage

  1. Click Billing & Subscriptions in the left sidebar.

  2. Look at the Current Usage section at the top.

  3. Find the Candidates progress bar.

  4. The number shows completed interviews out of your plan limit (e.g., "3/50" means 3 completed, 47 remaining).

The count resets on your billing renewal date.
